Hi, I'm Hattie from Hokkaido!

Hello, my name is Hattie Richardson. I was born in the UK, now I live in Biei, Hokkaido.

I am a JLPT N2 Japanese-speaker who moved to the rural town of Biei in Hokkaido in 2019. It was during my time here that I noticed that despite the huge number of international tourists in the area, there was very little English support available for visitors and residents. I felt very strongly that the people of this tourist-driven area deserved access to high-quality translation and interpretation services in Asahikawa, Biei and Hokkaido.

I also noticed a lack of information available about the area for English-speakers, and for Hokkaido in general. While popular destinations like Tokyo, Kyoto and Mt. Fuji are high on the tourism checklist, Hokkaido remains a bit of a mystery for travellers and travel agents alike. I thought my writing and copywriting services would also be useful in providing English information and research for companies and agencies interested in introducing Hokkaido to their clientele.

So in 2023, I began working as a freelance interpreter and translator based in the Asahikawa-Biei-Furano area. I also do copywriting to help businesses promote their Hokkaido content.
